Contest Rules and Information 1. Enter 5 copies of the first 15 pages of your manuscript and an un-judged synopsis of up to 2 pages, single spaced. Copies must be bound with a binder clip. Do not use a paper clip or rubber bands. No loose page entries will be accepted. Do not place your name anywhere on the manuscript. CONTEST IS OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING PERSONS: A) Authors unpublished in any format or genre B) Previously published authors who have NOT published within the last 5 years. C) Previously published authors who have NOT published (in the past 5 years) in the category they are entering. Examples: an author published in contemporary fiction can enter any of the categories. An author published in time travel novels cannot enter the time travel category but MAY enter any of the other 5 categories. All entrants must certify their published or unpublished status on the entry form. Unsigned forms will be disqualified. Previously published authors who enter a category that they have published in will be disqualified. Entry fees will NOT be returned. Entry form, appropriate fee, and submission deadline: must be received by August 17, 2005. Include a stamped return Tyvek envelope for submission return. Do not use metered envelopes for return. Send entry to: 3. Entry fee: $20.00 for FF&P Members, $25.00 for non-FF&P Members, payable to: FF&P RWA. Payment may be by check, money order or Pay Pal 4. Awards in each category: First Place will receive $30, Second Place $20 and Third Place $10. Each finalist will receive a certificate. 5. Categories: Futuristic Romance, Fantasy Romance, Time Travel Romance, General Paranormal Romance, Erotic FF&P Romance, and FF&P with Romantic Elements. Entries must represent the author's own, original book length work. 8.Use Standard manuscript prep.: 12 inch font like TNR or Courier, 1" margins, and double spaced. Title and genre on top left, page number on top tight. Name should not appear anywhere on manuscript and will be disqualified if name is on manuscript. Cover page (1) accompanies submission with name, address, phone, email, manuscript title, and word count on it. 9.You must submit the entry form and fee, along with 5 copies of manuscripts to the contest coordinator: FF&P is not responsible for lost or misdirected entries. DO NOT SEND YOUR ENTRY RETURN-RECEIPT REQUESTED - 10. Entrants may enter as many categories as they wish with DIFFERENT submissions (not the same book in two categories). Each entry must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee and a separate signed Contestant's Agreement and Entry Form. 11. Include an appropriate SASE Tyvek envelope containing STAMPED (not metered) postage to return your entry copies and judges sheets. 12. Judges may not enter in the category they are judging. Every effort will be made to use only FF&P-trained judges. 13. If a category does not receive a sufficient number of submissions to make the category viable, the category will be canceled and the entries placed in the author's second choice category as noted on the entry form. If no second choice is listed, entries and fees will be returned (exclusive of postage costs).
